Florida licensed septic contractors
Florida publishes its septic licensing through the Florida DEP. This is every record it holds, as pages you can navigate: 609 businesses and 715 individually licensed onsite professionals across 63 of 67 counties.
Authorised septic tank businesses
A business the state has licensed for the work that may contract for septic system installation, repair and maintenance.
Master septic tank contractors
An individual, not a company: someone who holds Florida's senior septic registration, which additionally covers system maintenance and servicing.
Registered septic tank contractors
An individual, not a company: someone who is registered to install, repair and alter onsite sewage treatment and disposal systems.

How Florida regulates septic work
Florida authorises the business and registers the individual contractor who qualifies it. DEP permits septic systems in some counties and the county health department does it in the rest, so the permit office depends on where you are — but the licence check is always DEP.
Business authorisations and contractor registrations each carry their own expiration date, shown on every listing. DEP's list is generated live from its database, so what appears here is what DEP held on the day it was fetched.
Florida licenses people as well as businesses. The individual licences — master septic tank contractors, registered septic tank contractors — belong to a named professional, and we list them on county pages rather than giving each person a page of their own.
